Addressing the event, the Chief Minister said the ruling AIADMK, which was following the path laid down by the late AIADMK leader, Jayalalithaa, was committed to public welfare. “The welfare schemes announced by Amma (Jayalalithaa) are being implemented and the new projects announced in the Assembly under Rule 110 are also executed in letter and spirit. The only objective of the opposition DMK is to criticise the government and dream about forming the next government,” he said.

Pointing out that the farmers are happy with the seasonal rainfall and the kudimaramathu projects, the CM said that the government is delivering specific projects aimed at benefitting the women and the farmers. Besides, to alleviate poverty, the State is distributing free livestock and poultry, CM Palaniswami said recalling the list of freebie schemes by the government.

Emphasising that the formation of Kallakurichi was a long pending demand from the people of Villupuram, Palaniswami said that that the AIADMK government has created a record by forming five new revenue districts within a year.

The CM also announced that a new food park will be set up at Tindivanam where farmers can sell their products at a nominal price. He also announced new schemes for the newly carved-out district. Kallakurichi will be the 34th revenue district of Tamil Nadu and the State will inaugurate the three other districts of Ranipet, Tirupattur and Chengalpet by this week. The new district will have five Assembly constituencies and five taluks--Kallakurichi, Sankarapuram, Ulundurpet, Thirukovilur and Kalvarayanmalai.

Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam in his address blamed the DMK for criticising the government. The DMK is periodically spreading false propaganda against the AIADMK government in Parliament, he said. The DMK leader is now in a state of confusion as his dreams of becoming the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister continues to be a mirage. Law Minister C Ve Shanmugam also spoke.
