COIMBATORE: Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) leader Seeman on Wednesday criticized Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay, asserting that contesting from two constituencies reflects a lack of confidence in himself and the people.

“Despite losing twice, I continue to contest in only one constituency because I have confidence in the people and my success. Only those who lack faith in themselves and the electorate contest from two seats,” Seeman said, while campaigning in Coimbatore.

The NTK leader also questioned the lack of legal action over the Karur tragedy, which claimed 41 lives during a TVK campaign. “A case was registered against me for campaigning five minutes beyond the permitted time in Erode East constituency, yet no proper case has been filed so far regarding the Karur tragedy,” he remarked.

Seeman further took aim at dravidian parties over their election alliances. “Until forming an alliance, former BJP state president K. Annamalai called the DMK and AIADMK corrupt. Did the AIADMK suddenly become non-corrupt after aligning with BJP? Why couldn’t DMK or AIADMK contest elections independently?” he questioned.

Criticizing poll promises, Seeman accused the DMK and AIADMK of preparing their manifestos only after touring Tamil Nadu to gather grievances. “It means they have been running the government without even understanding the problems of the people,” he said.

Highlighting the plight of fishermen, Seeman noted that 840 fishermen had died due to the ceding of Katchatheevu and pointed out that the DMK manifesto makes no mention of reclaiming the island to protect fishermen’s rights.
