20 stars to blow DMK's poll bugle

CHENNAI: The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has kick-started its election campaign across Tamil Nadu under the banner “Tamil Nadu Won’t Bow Down”, targeting the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre ahead of the upcoming Assembly election.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, DMK general secretary Duraimurugan said the party decided, at a recent meeting of district secretaries, to hold public meetings in all 234 Assembly constituencies across the State throughout February.

As part of the campaign, 20 star campaigners from the party will tour all Assembly constituencies, he said.

Senior leaders and Ministers, including RS Rajakannappan, Govi Chezhiaan and Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, will take part in the campaign. Members of Parliament Thamizhachi Thangapandian, Dayanidhi Maran and Tiruchi Siva, along with MLAs N Ezhilan and S Inigo Irudayaraj, are among the star speakers scheduled to address the meetings.
