CHENNAI: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Greater Chennai Police have registered a case against two men who tried to obtain registration with the Tamil Nadu Medical Council (TNMC) by submitting forged documents, claiming that they completed their medical education in a foreign country.
Police sources said that the authorities filed a complaint with the City Police Commissioner on November 24, after which the CCB booked Ajith Samson of CN Palayam near Cuddalore and Karuppaiah Ganapathy of Paramakudi near Ramanathapuram.
The duo had applied for certificates with the medical council, claiming that they completed their MBBS degrees in the United States. On examining the documents, the authorities found that they were forged, and legal action was initiated against them.
Investigations are under way to ascertain how the fake certificates were procured and whether others were involved in facilitating the fraud.
