CHENNAI: R Sonu Yadav (130 off 95 balls, 9 fours, 6 sixes & 2 wickets) delivered an all-round performance as Jolly Rovers CC registered a thumping 177-run victory over Swaraj CC in the VAP Trophy Group A match at the IIT-M Chemplast Ground here on Sunday.
In another Group A contest at the Murugappa Ground, centurion RS Mokit Hariharan (120 off 109 balls, 9 fours, 2 sixes) powered Sea Hawks CC to a 93-run win over Madras CC, for which medium pacer V Yudheeswaran (5/83) and skipper Tushar Raheja (109 off 104 balls, 7 fours, 3 sixes) impressed. Despite Yudheeswaran and Raheja’s good show, MCC was simply the second-best team in the match.
In Group B, comeback man and left-arm pacer T Natarajan (5/59) starred with a five-wicket haul for Vijay CC that defeated MRC’A’ by two wickets in a thrilling game. M Affan Khader (104 off 109 balls, 11 fours) struck a century for MRC’A’, but his effort went in vain.
