After the historic success, Sindhu has bowed out in the early stages of all tournaments bar French Open, where she reached the quarter-finals. “Sindhu has had robust occasions in the previous couple of matches, however I’m positive she’ll bounce again. I believe she’s had a tricky schedule after the Worlds,” said Gopichand.


“She had intercontinental events in China and Korea. Then, she went to Denmark and France. Following that, she came back to Asia to play in China and Hong Kong. So I believe it has been a tricky final two months for her,” added Gopichand. He, nevertheless, mentioned Sindhu would roar back with good performances.


“Loads of gamers on this planet are discovering it troublesome. Many gamers were not able to give their best in these tournaments due to the schedule. I believe Sindhu is a contender any day and I’m positive she’ll bounce again.” Gopichand mentioned India’s Tokyo 2020 preparation is heading in the right direction.


“I believe each athlete who will go for the Olympics as a part of the Indian group will have an opportunity to get a medal. I hope we end up early with no accidents and have enough preparation time.” Gopichand and Sindhu are among the galaxy of sports stars who will probably be felicitated on the sidelines of the India-Bangladesh pink ball Test, starting here on Friday.


The former All-England champion also recalled his youthful days when he was an avid cricket watcher.

Srikanth, Sameer into second round


India made a promising start at the Korea Masters as shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and Sameer Verma advanced to the second round of the men's singles competition here on Wednesday.


The sixth seed Srikanth defeated Hong Kong's Wong Wing Ki Vincent 21-18, 21-17 in a duel which lasted 37 minutes. The former World No.1 Srikanth now enjoys a dominant 11-3 head-to-head win-loss record over the Hong Kong shuttler. The Indian will face Kanta Tsuneyama of Japan in the second round.


Sameer also reached the next round after his opponent, Japan's Kazumasa Sakai, retired in the opening game with the score reading 11-8 in favour of the Indian. However, it was end of the road for Sourabh Verma, who went down to local favourite Kim Donghun 21-13, 12-21, 13-21. Sameer will take on Donghun in thesecond round.
