The competition, which is open only to invited schools, will witness participation from 64 teams across the state. While the tournament will kick-start in Chennai, the other districts which will host first phase matches are Coimbatore, Tiruchy, Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Tirupur, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Tirunelveli and Tuticorin.
The winner and runner-up from Chennai and the winners from districts will be a part of the final phase of the event in Tirunelveli, which will be held between January 22 and 26, 2019. The eight qualified teams will be split into two groups of four each. The top two teams in each group make it to the semi-finals.
All phase two matches till the semis will be shown as highlights on Star Sports Tamil and the final will be covered differed live by the same channel.
“It is a great opportunity for the boys. It’s good to see them play with so much exuberance and energy. I wish many players from JSK go on to represent the state (Tamil Nadu) and the country,” said India international Ambati Rayudu, who was the mentor for the JSK team that travelled to Yorkshire.
