While, many people are yet to come to terms with how things have unfolded, Amir made a stunning return to international cricket. Anyone who watched Amir bowl at the Asia Cup in Mirpur were left awestruck with the way he breathed fire.

The pace bowler had announced his comeback with a bang. As the 23-year-old Amir returned to the Pakistan dressing room against New Zealand, he wasn’t appreciated by many. He was taunted in Wellington when the crowd waved ‘dollar notes’ at him but the fast bowler remained rooted to task.

A month later, in Mirpur, Amir was delivering thunder-bolts at a constant 150 kmph. Aaqib Javed, coach of United Arab Emirates and then Pakistan’s bowling coach during the infamous Lord’s Test where Amir was found guilty of bowling no-balls, said the bowler has made a comeback at the right time. “He is very young. He is at the point where a fast bowler’s peak period starts. He has a good seven or eight years ahead of him,” Javed told DTNext

However, Javed said Amir’s consistency would be the key to his success. “He is an intelligent fast bowler. He can consistently deliver at 140-150 kmph and that will see him go places,” Javed said. The UAE coach felt that Amir’s real test would be in the T20 World Cup next month. “The wickets would be very different.

Any fast bowler would find it tough to excel in India. But if Amir can get the ball to seam and nip a bit more, he would come out with flying colours,” the 43-year-old former Pakistan bowler said. Javed said any player would feel the pressure when they face Amir after his exploits.

“I feel a batsman would want to see off his first two overs with the new ball cautiously rather than going after him. It would be a case of waiting for him to bowl a bad ball rather than execute your shots, which is a shot in the arm for the young Amir,” Javed added.
