CHENNAI: In a move to strengthen coordination ahead of the Assembly election, Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin has convened a virtual meeting with party functionaries on Friday to address constituency-level issues.

The party high command has directed district secretaries to organise the meeting across all Assembly constituencies, ensuring participation of functionaries, constituency observers and candidates. "All functionaries, observers and candidates must participate without fail," the DMK leadership said, adding that the meeting link will be shared with participants.

The meeting aims to resolve coordination issues and streamline campaign efforts across constituencies.

Meanwhile, the DMK has also appointed observers for key constituencies across the State. Notably, several leaders who were denied tickets have been assigned observer roles.

Sitting MLA from Egmore, I Paranthamen, who was denied a ticket, has been appointed observer for Mettur, Sankari and Edappadi constituencies. EVV Kamban, son of Minister EV Velu, has been named observer for three constituencies, including Tiruvannamalai.

VC Chandrakumar, MLA from Erode East, has been appointed observer for Gobichettipalayam, a key constituency in the western region. In Chennai, observers have been appointed for Saidapet, T Nagar and Thousand Lights constituencies.

Party sources said the initiative aims to ensure better coordination, monitor campaign activities, and address local concerns effectively as the election campaign gathers momentum.
