PUDUCHERRY: A 100-year-old voter cast his vote from home in Karaikal on April 3, as part of the Election Commission’s home voting facility for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, officials said.

Rajagopal, a resident of Muppaithangudi in Thirunallar constituency, exercised his franchise at his residence in the presence of election officials and general observer Anoop Kinchi.

The home voting initiative, aimed at ensuring inclusive participation, was implemented across five constituencies Nedungadu (SC), Thirunallar, Karaikal North, Karaikal South and Neravy–TR Pattinam.

District Collector and District Election Officer Ishita Rathi flagged off the exercise at Arignar Anna Government Arts College campus, along with general observers Harshika Singh and Saritha Bal Om Prajapati.

Officials said teams visited eligible voters aged 85 and above and persons with disabilities at their homes. Votes were recorded after verifying identity documents and electoral roll details, in line with Election Commission of India guidelines.

The process was monitored by election officials and police personnel to ensure secrecy and adherence to rules.
