CHENNAI: Ahead of the 77th Republic Day celebrations in Chennai, authorities have imposed a comprehensive ban on aerial devices to ensure security. The main event will take place near the Labour Statue on Kamarajar Salai at Marina Beach on January 26.

The Greater Chennai Police have declared areas in and around Marina, including the routes for the Governor and Chief Minister, a ‘Red Zone’.

Specifically, the use of drones, paragliders, and all remotely piloted aircraft systems is strictly prohibited on January 25 and 26.

This is part of a larger order under the BNSS Act 2023, which also bans items like laser beams and balloons near the Airport from January 23 to March 23.

Police have warned of strict action against violations and appealed for public cooperation to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the Republic Day events.
