

CHENNAI: The 22nd edition of the Sundaram Finance Mylapore Festival will be held from January 8-11 across public spaces in Mylapore, featuring classical music and dance performances, heritage walks, kolam and rangoli contests, street theatre and traditional craft displays, with most events open to the public.
More than 150 artistes, including school students and performers from Tiruchy and Tirupur, will participate across four evenings.
Sundaram Finance, in association with the Environmental Foundation of India, will launch the ‘Grow Your Food’ home kitchen garden initiative, enrolling participants into a BlueGreen Club mentored by EFI, with plans to scale the programme nationally through the company’s Green Task Force. The festival will also mark the 15th year of its plastic reduction drive, with around 10,000 cloth bags distributed in exchange for plastic bags, along with a ‘Keep Mylapore Clean awareness campaign.
Morning kutcheris will be held daily at Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple. Children’s events include chess tournaments and art and craft workshops at Lady Sivasamy Ayyar School on January 10 and 11. Eight heritage walks, kolam and rangoli competitions, and a cycling heritage tour for children are also scheduled.
