CHENNAI: Suburban train services at Platforms 10 and 11 at Chennai Egmore railway station will resume from April 3, two days ahead of the earlier scheduled date of April 5, following completion of redevelopment works at the platforms.

With this, the temporary suburban timetable in force since February 27 will be scrapped, and trains will go back to the schedule followed before February 20.

Suburban services in the Chennai beach - Tambaram, Chengalpattu and Arakkonam sections will run as usual again, with all regular stops back, trains using their usual platforms, and services running without the diversions seen over the past few weeks.

A traffic and power block had been in place from February 20 to April 5 to facilitate works on the two suburban platforms.

During this period, the Railways carried out foundation works for key structures, including foot overbridges, a departure concourse and a large-span roof structure.

With these works now completed to an operational level, the block has been withdrawn early, enabling restoration of services from midnight on Friday.
