NCB seizes 747g methamphetamine, arrests Kerala man in Chennai

CHENNAI: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Chennai Zonal Unit, has busted an inter-state drug trafficking network operating across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, seizing 747 grams of methamphetamine valued at around Rs 10 lakh and arresting a Kerala resident.

Acting on specific intelligence, NCB officers intercepted the suspect on his arrival at Chennai Central Railway Station on July 22. A search of his luggage led to the recovery of 747 grams of methamphetamine concealed in small plastic packets.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the contraband had been trafficked through Bengaluru and Kozhikode before reaching Chennai.

The accused and his associates allegedly planned to transport the drugs by road for distribution across multiple states. The probe has also indicated the involvement of additional associates, including suspected foreign nationals.

NCB officials said efforts are under way to identify and arrest the remaining members of the syndicate, trace the financial trail and dismantle the larger inter-state and transnational drug trafficking network.
