CHENNAI: A 29-year-old woman was allegedly harassed and threatened with death by a fellow passenger on a Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus in the Semmbiam area. The incident occurred on Thursday evening on bus route No 242 heading towards Shenoy Nagar.

According to the complaint filed by the woman, a resident of Shenoy Nagar, she was traveling with her two children when she witnessed another female passenger being verbally harassed by a man. When the targeted woman rebuked him, the man began using abusive language.

Upon seeing this, the 29-year-old woman questioned the man, asking him why he was speaking in such a manner. In response, the accused allegedly turned his aggression towards her, using vulgar language, physically assaulting her, and issuing death threats.

Alert co-passengers on the bus immediately intervened and subdued the man. With their assistance, the victim took the accused to the Semmbiam Police Station and filed a formal complaint, urging action against him for his inappropriate behaviour and criminal intimidation.
