CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has directed the Cyber Crime Police in the city to inquire within a month whether the statement filed by film producer Sathish Kumar regarding alleged phone calls made by a cinema financier is genuine or fabricated.

J Sathish Kumar, owner of JSK Film Corporation, which produced the National Award-winning Thanga Meengal, had obtained a loan from cinema financier G Gagan Bothra and issued cheques towards repayment.

As the cheques bounced due to insufficient funds, Bothra filed a cheque bounce case against Sathish Kumar before the George Town Magistrate Court in Chennai.

In the meantime, alleging improper conduct, Sathish Kumar filed a petition before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Egmore, seeking transfer of the cheque bounce case to another judge. In support of his plea, he submitted a report containing details of alleged phone calls between financier Gagan Bothra and a court staff member of the George Town court.
