CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has dismissed chef Madhampatty Rangaraj’s plea seeking to restrain fashion designer Joy Crizildaa from alleged defamatory remarks against him.
Crizildaa had earlier filed a police complaint against Rangaraj, alleging that he had cheated her by marrying her despite already being married. She had also spoken about the issue in interviews on social media.
Subsequently, Rangaraj filed a petition seeking ban Crizildaa from making such defamatory statements against him and for the removal of related videos from social media. The case came up for hearing before Justice N. Senthilkumar.
During the hearing, senior counsel S Prabakaran, appearing for Crizildaa, argued that Rangaraj had deceived her by falsely claiming to have divorced his wife, and then married and lived with her. Appearing for Rangaraj, counsel Vijayan Subramanian submitted that a DNA test should be conducted for Crizildaa’s child, and if it proved that Rangaraj was the father, he was willing to take responsibility for the child.
After reserving orders earlier, Justice Senthilkumar has now delivered the verdict, dismissing Rangaraj’s plea to restrain Crizildaa from making alleged defamatory remarks.
