CHENNAI: Police have launched a hunt for a man who under the influence of alcohol and ganja, allegedly attacked three persons with a knife and inflicted cut injuries on them near the Ice House area on Thursday night. The injured were identified as S Venkatesh (34), an auto driver, and N Vignesh (19) and K Saravanan (19), both college students. All of them had to be administered sutures on their head, police said. Probe revealed the attacker who came on a two-wheeler picked up arguments with random strangers on the road and attacked people who questioned him. The trio, who did not know he was carrying a knife, was rescued by onlookers and moved to the Government Royapettah Hospital. Based on their complaint, Royapettah Police registered a case and perusing CCTV footage have identified the suspect as P Karthik (27) of Triplicane. Further investigations are on.
