

CHENNAI: It was a special occasion for the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) when a coach part of the Amrit Bharat was rolled out of the production area. For, that was the 80,000th coach to be produced by the factory, the premier production unit of Indian Railways that is the world's largest coach-producing factory, which was established in 1955.
From manufacturing conventional passenger coaches, ICF has evolved into a centre of excellence for advanced rolling stock, including EMU and DEMU trains, air-conditioned EMUs, high-speed accident relief trains, luxury tourist coaches, Vistadome coaches, and Metro coaches for Kolkata Metro. ICF also exports coaches to several countries across Asia and Africa.
ICF is spearheading the production of Vande Bharat train set and developing new variants, such as Amrit Bharat Coaches, Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, and Vande Bharat sleeper train sets.
Congratulating all officials and staff who were part of the journey since its inception, ICF general manager U Subba Rao said the milestone reflects ICF's enduring spirit of innovation and its vital role in shaping the future of Indian Railways.
