Hoax bomb threat to Bangladesh deputy high commission in Chennai

CHENNAI: (BUREAU) A hoax bomb threat was issued to the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Teynampet on Wednesday. Police sources said that an email was sent to the Tamil Nadu police headquarters, claiming that an explosive device was planted at the deputy high commission on KP Dasan Road, after which local police were alerted and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) personnel conducted a complete sweep of the premises.

After the inspection, the threat was declared a hoax. The cybercrime wing of the city police has been tasked with tracing the source of the email and identifying those responsible for sending it.

Investigators are examining digital footprints and technical details linked to the message. Police officials said necessary precautions were taken to ensure the safety of diplomatic staff.
