CHENNAI: The government on Thursday moved the motion of thanks to the Governor's address, even though Governor RN Ravi did not read out the speech in the Assembly on Tuesday.

The motion by DMK MLA I Paranthamen stated that the House disapproved of the conduct of the Governor, who walked out of the Assembly without delivering the customary address prepared by the State government.

The motion said the government had followed all established procedures relating to the Governor's address and that the speech was duly printed and circulated to all Assembly members. The government expressed its regret over the Governor's refusal to read the customary address.

It was recalled that although the Governor did not deliver the speech, the address was formally placed on record after a resolution moved by Chief Minister MK Stalin was adopted by voice vote, following which the Speaker read out the text in the House.

According to the Assembly Secretariat, the motion would be taken up for detailed debate. The motion is scheduled to be passed by voice vote after the Chief Minister replies to the debate, marking the formal completion of the customary proceedings relating to the Governor's address for the current session
