CHENNAI: An ex-army man was arrested by the Teynampet police for allegedly making a false bomb threat to the residence of Chief Minister MK Stalin.

The call, made to the police control room on Sunday, prompted an intensive search by security teams, which confirmed it was a hoax.

The accused, Balasubramanian (45), was traced through his call details and apprehended from Virudhunagar district.

Police investigations revealed that the suspect, who has a history of alcohol addiction and prior cases involving violence against women, made the threat while in a distressed state over his estranged wife. He has been charged and remanded to judicial custody.
