Delivering the seventh convocation address of the Jawharlal Institute of Post Graduate medical Education and Research (JIPMER) here, she reminded the students that the country had invested heavily on them and they are duty bound to pay back to the society. She inspired the fresh graduates by asking them to pay back little more than what they are expected to.

Some doctors heal while some others hurt, Kiran Bedi pointed out and asked the young doctors to strive to sustain the excellence they have acquired. “It is challenging to be excellent and need continuous effort,” she said.    The Lt Governor said “the patient who comes to a doctor never forgets his/her face though doctor may forget them.”

Hence take care to see that you show a kind and empathetic face, she said and asked the students to be grateful to the French who opened this Medical School way back in 1823 and everyone who supported them in their achievements. She gave away degree scrolls to 246 students who successfully completed various medical courses. They included 6 PhDs, 112 post-graduates and super specialities and 128 MBBS degrees.
