According to Public Works Department, there was heavy rain in the catchment areas around the lakes. Officials also said that the inflow into Chembarambakkam rose to 1,719 cusecs, from a mere zero cusec, while inflow to the Red Hills lake was 1,643 cusecs on Tuesday.
G Vijayakumar, Executive Engineer, Kosasthalaiyar Basin circle, said, “All the four lakes have been receiving good inflow and we can expect the level to cross beyond two tmc of water, if there is heavy rain in the coming days.” They were closely monitoring Chembarambakkam Lake, as inflow and rains might increase the storage steadily,” he added.
