Chennai: Students of Swaami Vivekananda school hold rally for smoke-free Bhogi

CHENNAI: With youngsters growing keen on environmental education and climate change, students of Swaami Vivekananda Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Ramapuram, held a rally on Saturday to promote environmental protection and to celebrate a smoke-free Bhogi. 

More than 200 students and teachers marched through Bharathi Salai, Easwaran Kovil Street, Bajanai Kovil Street, Valluvar Salai, Giri Nagar, and Anandam Nagar.

The event was inaugurated by Chairman K Minraj, former member secretary of TN State Council for Higher Education and former dean of University of Madras.  During the rally, students raised awareness about the importance of environmental conservation and urged the public to celebrate festivals without harming the environment. 

This initiative aimed to instill a sense of responsibility among the younger generation and the public at large to protect the ecosystem. The rally was guided by Ramapuram R11 police station and Valasaravakkam traffic police.
