Chennai: Six arrested in Mylapore, Tiruvottiyur for possession of drugs

Investigations revealed that Harish works as an air-conditioner mechanic, Vasanthakumar is a bike taxi driver, and Sai Sreecharan is employed with a private firm.

CHENNAI: The anti-narcotics cops arrested six men on New Year's Eve for possession of narcotic substances, including methamphetamine, OG ganja, and MDMA tablets, in Mylapore and Tiruvottiyur police limits.


In Mylapore, a special team of the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) of the city police conducted a vigil after receiving a tip-off about the movement of narcotics near Karaneeswarar Koil Street, and apprehended the suspects, Harish (29) of Mylapore, Vasanthakumar (27) and Sai Sreecharan (28) of T Nagar.


Investigations revealed that Harish works as an air-conditioner mechanic, Vasanthakumar is a bike taxi driver, and Sai Sreecharan is employed with a private firm.


The police seized 3 grams of methamphetamine, 17 grams of OG ganja, 1 LSD stamp,  and 16 MDMA tablets from the accused.


In another seizure, in Tiruvottiyur police limits, three youths were arrested with four grams of methamphetamine and 100 grams of ganja; and three mobile phones were seized.

The arrested persons were Darshan (19), Bharathkumar (20) and Sudhakar (20), all residents of Thiruvottiyur. Police said Darshan is a third-year student at a private college, Bharathkumar works as a two-wheeler mechanic, and Sudhakar was a truck mechanic.

All the accused were produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
