CHENNAI: The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has invited bids for comprehensive maintenance, repair and painting works at Thiru Vi Ka Park, located above the Shenoy Nagar Metro Station. According to the tender, the contract will run for 730 days.
The deadline for submission of bids is September 17. Bids will remain valid for 180 days from the stipulated submission date.
For the new tender, the scope of work involves maintaining the water supply and drainage systems in the park including regular inspections, cleaning, and maintenance of all pipes, valves, fittings, pumps, and tanks, as well as prompt repairs of any damages or malfunctions.
“Also, it will be ensured that the water quality is maintained and regularly tested for any signs of contamination and that all systems are functioning properly to prevent any disruptions or safety hazards,” said a CMRL official. The tender forms part of CMRL’s planned upkeep of Thiru Vi Ka Park above the station, with the selected contractor responsible for maintenance, repair and painting works over the two-year contract period.
For the maintenance of the park earlier, CMRL awarded the contract worth Rs 4.59 crore with Quess Corp Limited in November 2023. And, the new tender is floated following the expiry of the previous one.
Thiru Vi Ka Park was renovated and reopened in April 2023 after it was taken over by CMRL for the construction of underground Shenoy Nagar Metro station from the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC). Currently, the park under CMRL is open for the public from 5 am to 9 am and 5 pm to 9 pm on all days.
