CHENNAI: Six days after the government announced the Tamil Nadu Assured Pension Scheme (TNAPS), Secretariat staff, on Thursday, staged a protest, challenging the new scheme and criticising how the association's leadership approved it.
They demanded that the government restore the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), which was discontinued in April 2003. "Only the association's leadership has accepted the TNAPS.
“Only the association’s leadership has accepted the TNAPS. We will not accept the new scheme. We are demanding the Old Pension Scheme. The government has not clarified the status of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS),” said association member K. Sivaguru.
