

CHENNAI: Gold prices recovered on Thursday afternoon (February 6) after an early dip, rising by Rs 1,040 per sovereign. The yellow metal is now priced at Rs 1,14,000 per sovereign (8 grams) and Rs 14,250 per gram, marking a rise of Rs 130 per gram.
In the morning session, gold had slipped to Rs 1,12,960 per sovereign and Rs 14,120 per gram, after falling by Rs 1,600 per sovereign earlier in the day.
Meanwhile, silver prices remained unchanged at Rs 280 per gram (Rs 2,80,000 per kg) on February 6.
Gold remains significantly higher compared to last year. Prices have surged from Rs 63,440 per sovereign (Rs 7,930 per gram) on February 6, 2025, to Rs 1,14,000 per sovereign (Rs 14,250 per gram) on February 6, 2026, afternoon, marking an increase of Rs 50,560, or about 79.6%.
