Chennai: Gold price drops by Rs 1200 on April 17; check how much it costs

CHENNAI: A day after a rise of Rs 320 per sovereign (8 grams), gold has now decreased by Rs 1200 on April 17.

The yellow metal is now priced at Rs 1,13,680 per sovereign and Rs 14,210 per gram, an decrease of Rs 150.

On April 16, gold was priced at Rs Rs 1,14,880 per sovereign and Rs 14,360 per gram.

Silver prices remain unchanged

Silver prices remained unchanged to sell for Rs 275 per gram (Rs 2,75,000 per kg) on April 17.

Gold remains significantly higher compared to last year. Prices have surged from Rs 71,360 per sovereign (Rs 8,920 per gram) on April 17, 2025, to Rs 1,13,680 per sovereign (Rs 14,210 per gram) on April 17, 2026, marking an increase of Rs 42,320 or about 62.7%.
