Ellaiamman Kovil Street carries heavy daily traffic, and locals say safety issues started after the Greater Chennai Corporation laid the stormwater drain two years ago.

Before the drain work, the road was smooth. Now riders struggle to cross the stretch. The intake points at the turning make bikes skid or lose balance,

Residents and commuters have appealed to the Corporation to raise the drain structures to road level and prevent further accidents.

They warned that unless immediate corrective action is taken, the stretch could soon witness a fatal incident.
