CHENNAI: A Class 5 boy was injured after a neighbour's dog attacked him while he was walking home from a shop in Secretariat Colony near Kilpauk on Wednesday evening.

The boy, Arjun, sustained injuries on the right side of his chest and left leg. Neighbours rushed to help the child and took him to a nearby private hospital, from where he was later shifted for further treatment.

His mother, Pavithra, stated that she sought the help of the dog's owners - Maeniel and Maheshwari - as her son was traumatised following the incident and appealed to the authorities to ensure the owners bear the medical expenses.

Based on Pavithra's complaint, the Secretariat Colony police registered a community service register entry and launched an investigation.
