Chennai: Broadway bus terminus services to be shifted temporarily from Jan 24

According to an official release issued on Wednesday, from the Royapuram temporary bus terminus, services will be operated via Anna Salai and EVR Periyar Salai.

CHENNAI: The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) has announced that bus services operated from the Broadway bus terminus will be shifted temporarily from January 24 to the temporary terminus at Royapuram and Island Grounds due to redevelopment and infrastructure works at the facility.

According to an official release issued on Wednesday, from the Royapuram temporary bus terminus, services will be operated via Anna Salai and EVR Periyar Salai.

Buses operating via Anna Salai include routes such as 11, 21, 26, 52, 54, 60, 10E, 11G and 11M, apart from several other city and express services. Routes including 50, 101CT, 101X, 53E, 53P, 71 series, 120 series and 150 will operate via EVR Periyar Salai.

Buses heading towards Royapuram via Anna Salai and EVR Periyar Salai will stop at the existing Nurse Quarters bus stop and the High Court bus stop on North Fort Road to drop passengers before proceeding via Rajaji Salai to the temporary terminus. Services originating from Royapuram will pick up passengers at the High Court bus stop and Paris Corner signal before resuming their regular routes.

From Island Grounds temporary terminus, buses will be operated via Kamarajar Salai, Beach Station, Mannady, EVR Periyar Salai and Vepery. Routes such as 6, 13, 60E, 102 series, 109 series and 21G will operate via Kamarajar Salai, while routes including 1, 4, 33 series, 38 series, 44 series and 56 series will run via Beach Station. Mannady-bound services include routes 33B, 56C and 56F.

Buses proceeding towards Island Grounds will follow specific diversions. Services via Beach Station will pass through Paris Corner signal and the High Court bus stop before reaching the temporary terminus via the Muthusamy flyover. Mannady services will proceed via Esplanade Road, while EVR Periyar Salai and Vepery services will drop passengers at the Nurse Quarters bus stop and reach Island Grounds via the flyover.

Outbound services from Island Grounds will similarly follow revised pickup and drop points, including Rangavilas, Government General Hospital and Dare House bus stops, before rejoining their original routes.

The transport corporation has advised commuters to take note of the temporary changes and plan their travel accordingly.
