

CHENNAI: In a coordinated crackdown, the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) of the Greater Chennai Police arrested eight individuals in two separate drug peddling cases in the Triplicane area on Thursday. The operation led to the seizure of narcotics, including Methamphetamine and cannabis.
Based on specific intelligence received by an ANIU team led by an Inspector, two raids were conducted on Thursday.
In the first operation, a combined team of ANIU personnel and officers from the Triplicane Police Station arrested five individuals near the intersection of Bells Road and CNK Road, Triplicane. The arrested have been identified as Charukesh (21), Roshanraj (21), Rabi Jack (26), Hari Kannan (25), and Rithishwar (18). From them, authorities confiscated 8.5 grams of Methamphetamine, 600 grams of cannabis (ganja), and cash amounting to Rs 1,070.
Simultaneously, a second raid was conducted on Victoria Hostel Road, Chepauk. The team apprehended three more individuals: Nithishkumar (24), Pramod Madhavan (24), and Ryan (23). This seizure included 5 grams of Methamphetamine, 500 grams of cannabis, and Rs 375 in cash.
The total haul from both cases amounts to 13.5 grams of Methamphetamine, 1.1 kilograms of cannabis, and Rs 1,445 in cash.
All eight accused were produced before a court yesterday following interrogation. As per judicial orders, they have been remanded to judicial custody.
