CHENNAI: The Greater Chennai Police Commissioner, A Arun, honoured and rewarded 70 police officers, personnel, and ministerial staff for their exceptional performance across a range of critical cases and duties in a ceremony held on Friday.
The recognition spanned achievements in complex investigations, swift crime resolution, and outstanding service.
Key cases highlighted included the thwarting of a major property-grab attempt involving assets worth approximately Rs 52 crore by the Central Crime Branch (CCB).
In another significant operation, the CCB arrested a key accused wanted in 13 fraud cases in Bengaluru. Officers also solved a Rs 2 crore property fraud involving forged documents and arrested the main culprits.
Demonstrating swift action, the Saidepet police recovered stolen gold and cash within days of a domestic theft, with the complainant later praising the humane and efficient investigation. In a notable narcotics bust, the ANIU team seized 27 grams of cocaine and arrested a Nigerian national in Koyambedu.
The city police also showed efficacy in tackling robberies. The Vanagaram police arrested six persons, including three women, for a daring house break-in involving Rs 13 lakh and gold jewellery, recovering a portion of the stolen property.
In a coordinated interstate operation, the Nandambakkam police traced and arrested four accused in Gujarat for breaking into a forex office.
Beyond investigations, personnel were lauded for administering secondary grade police constable written exams smoothly and for exemplary on-ground duty. This included a woman Head Constable providing first aid and saving a protester who fainted, and traffic personnel swiftly nabbing chain-snatchers and phone thieves.
Adding to the laurels, Chennai Police weightlifters were honoured for winning medals and securing the 2nd overall position at the 2025 All India Police Weightlifting Cluster.
