CHENNAI: SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) celebrated Alumni Day 2025 on Saturday, bringing together over 1,300 alumni across various disciplines and campuses.

With the first batch graduating in 1989, the alumni legacy has been built over decades by graduates who continue to shape the institution’s story across the world.

Addressing the gathering, TR Paarivendhar, founder-chancellor, said: “SRMIST did not grow because of one person. It grew because every alumni who passed through this campus carried it forward.”

Prof C Muthamizhchelvan, vice chancellor, SRMIST, stated this shared vision, calling upon alumni to remain engaged with their alma mater. “Stay connected and mentor the next generation, and give back to SRM—because the growth of this university is a shared responsibility. Support for start-ups is crucial through DEI initiatives, as over 50 start-ups are thriving,” he averred.

Alumni Day 2025 was marked by reflections from former students who spoke about SRMIST’s transformative role in their lives. Selvaraj Srinivasan of the 1991 batch recalled, “From a rural classroom to global platforms, SRM laid the foundation for every dream I dared to pursue.”

Vino Supraja, the first architect from Vandavasi and an alumna of 2001 batch, stated, “This campus did not just educate me; it embraced my vulnerability and transformed me into a confident woman.”

A key highlight of Alumni Day 2025 was the Alumni Awards Ceremony, which honoured outstanding alumni under 3 categories: Distinguished Alumni, Eminent Alumni, and Young Achievers.
