Tripura police probe complaint against Bangladeshi singer for abusing Modi
The Tripura Police is probing a complaint against a Bangladeshi singer, who had performed in a music reality show in Kolkata, for "composing and uploading derogatory songs" on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over social media, police said on Thursday.
Agartala
South Tripura district Superintendent of police Jal Singh Meena told IANS over phone from Belonia (145 km south of here), that the matter has also been referred to the Tripura Police Cyber Crime Wing.
Meena said that one Suman Paul, a Bharatiya Janata Party worker, lodged the complaint with the police earlier this week against Mainul Ahsan Nobel for reportedly "composing and uploading offensive songs" against Prime Minister Modi over social media.
Nobel had performed in the music reality show 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' in Kolkata recently. Paul in his complaint alleged that the Bangladeshi singer humiliated the Prime Minister in public domain. Police inspector Rajib Debnath, officer-in-charge of Belonia police station, said that Paul alleged that the Bangladeshi singer had called Modi a "mere chaiwallah" in a Facebook post.
