    International Gita Mahotsav: Haryana to run 128 buses for Kurukshetra

    Haryana government has decided to run around 128 buses to Kurukshetra from December 1 to 10 at 50 per cent concessional fare for the convenience of pilgrims visiting the holy place during the celebrations of ongoing International Gita Mahotsav (IGM) 2019.

    Stating this here, Transport Minister Mool Chand Sharma said that a new scheme of the department to facilitate the pilgrims visiting Kurukshetra during IGM-2019 was approved by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday.

    He said directions have been issued to Panchkula, Amabala, Yamunanagar, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Panipat and Sonipat depots of Haryana Roadways, to operate 11 buses each from their respective destinations to Kurukshetra.

    Similarly, two buses each will operate from Sirsa, Hisar, Bhiwani, Rohtak, Charkhi Dadri, Narnaul, Jhajjar, Rewari, Gurugram, Fatehabad, Faridabad, Nuh and Palwal from their respective destinations or depots to Kurukshetra.

    Thus, a total of about 128  buses from  all other districts will ply to Kurukshetra during the IGM-2019.

    Mr Sharma said the buses will operate from 0600 hrs to 0800 hrs from other districts to Kurukshetra and from 1700 hrs to 1800 hrs from Kurukshetra to their respective depots.

    Apart from this, 50 per cent of the fare will be borne by the traveller and 50 per cent of the total fare given as concession will be borne by either the Kurukshetra Development Board or the state government.

    He said the given concession on tickets will not be applicable to any category already availing concession under various categories of Transport department.

    Special coupon or tickets for commuters availing the transport facilities for celebration of Gita Mahotsav will also be printed, he added.
