Hindi imposition on agenda of CPM meet tomorrow

In a statement, CPM state secretary K Balakrishnan said that from the days of freedom struggle, the Communist parties had been v+oicing for the due recognition of all the state languages and protested the moves to impose Hindi. 

“The linguistic based re-organisation of the states happened after a long struggle post-Independence. However, a proper solution was not found for the language issue in the country. Hindi was made the governance language of the country which comprises of people speaking various languages. The Centre continues to impose Hindi on the non-Hindi speaking states as well,” he said, adding that the Narendra Modi government has sharpened the move to impose Hindi. 

Pointing out that every individual has right to learn any language, including Hindi, he said that imposing Hindi on those speaking other languages is completely unacceptable. “There is a move to impose the Hindi through backdoor by the draft National Education Policy,” he said, adding that the centre wanted to impose Hindi and Sanskrit.

He said that CPM leaders from the southern states would take part in the conference to be held at Kamarajar Hall on Tuesday evening. “Kerala’s Left Democratic Front convener and CPM central committee member A Vijayaraghavan, state secretaries of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka B Madhu, T Veerabhadram and U Bhasavaraj would take part in it,” he said.
