In a statement, BJP state president V Saminathan MLA (Nominated) said that Narayanasamy need to be condemned. “By this statement the Chief Minister has not only cast aspersions on the Election Commission, but also on the voters,” he said. Saminathan wondered whether the Congress came to power in the Union Territory in the last Assembly elections by tampering the EVMs.

At a time when the Congress lack majority, one Congress member was forced to resign for Narayanasamy to contest from Nellithoppe constituency, Saminathan said and asked whether Narayanasamy won that by-election by tampering the EVMs. He also wondered whether the Congress won Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Assembly polls by tampering the EVMs.

It was the Congress government which introduced the EVMs 20 years back, he said adding that the Chief Minister should try to understand the facts before getting confused and confusing the people besides making a mockery of democracy.

Saminathan added that it was not so far scientifically proven that EVMs could be tampered and further the VVPAT  method was also introduced with which the voter could identify to whom he/she casted the vote.

Narayanasamy’s speech against the Election Commission officials reveals his double standards, noted Saminathan. The BJP would not use any backdoor method to come to power, he added.
