This follows the denial of her entry to her husband’s house in Angadipuram near here post discharge from the Calicut medical college late on Monday night. Consequent to this, the police had shifted her to the women relief and rescue centre near here.

Kanakadurga is under police protection following the Supreme Court’s directive to provide round-the-clock security to her and another woman.

Kanakadurga’s brother while addressing a massive Ayyappa sangamam held at Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday last had appealed for pardon on behalf of her for violating the traditions of Sabarimala. He had also announced that she will not be allowed to enter their house unless she publicly apologised.

Kanakadurga was admitted to a private hospital here and then shifted to medical college last week following allegation of hitting on head by her mother- in-law on her returning home on January 15.

A staunch Hindu sticking strong to traditions, Sumathi, Kanakadurga’s mother-in-law, had been critical of her daughter-in-law for having entered the holy shrine of Sabarimala.

Kanakadurga, who along with Bindu, had made history by becoming the first women below the age of 50 to enter the Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa temple, following the September 28 Supreme Court order, allowing entry of women of all ages into the hilltop shrine.

An employee of the Civil Supplies department, Kanakadurga, her husband Krishnanunni and their two children were living at her in-law’s house at Angadipuram.
