AAP, Dalit parties create ruckus at JERA meeting

The meeting began under JERA Chairman Goel and Puducherry Electricity Department Superintending Engineer Ravi, who informed the gathering that there is no proposal to enhance the power tariff for any category during 2019-20. However, to compensate the loss in the past, the government proposed to enhance the regulatory tax of four per cent to 10 per cent for all barring one hut one bulb and agriculturists.

Participants said that while Tamil Nadu government has not revised power tariff since 2014, it is being revised every year in Puducherry. At the point several volunteers of Aam Aadmi party and Dalits Protection Movement ghearoed the Chairman and later observed a dharna in front of his seat forcing the police to arrest and remove 14 of them. 

Later, the meeting continued.

Former CPI-M Secretary Perumal boycotted it as he was not given adequate time to express his views.
