2 murdered in separate incidents

According to police, Pratheesh (26), a painter was standing near his house when a three-member gang with sickles and other weapons came and tried to hack him. He however, escaped from them and ran for his life. The gang chased him and hacked him to death and fled.

His relatives rushed him to the government general hospital here where he was declared brought dead. Puducherry (East) Superintendent of police Maran and other police officials visited the spot. Muthialpet police have registered a case and started their investigation. It was stated that cases were pending against the deceased at Kottakuppam and Auroville police stations.

Meanwhile, a Chennai college lecturer hailing from Karaikal region of the Union Territory was found dead by hanging in his house at Karaikal on Saturday. He came to spend his Pongal holidays in Karaikal. Two days back when one of his relative called him he failed to pick up the phone. They came to his house to find him hanging in a decomposed state with his hands tied behind. Kottucherry police sent it for autopsy and areinvestigating.
