Reacting to reports that the state Government submitted before the Supreme Court that 51 women between 10-50 age group entered the temple after the September 28 SC verdict, TDB member KP Sankardas last evening said 'the Board has no evidence to prove the claim of the Government'.
Thiruvananthapuram
In the backdrop of Kerala government informing the Supreme Court that 51 women of menstruating age had entered the Lord Ayyappa temple during the 'Mandala-Makaravilakku' season in Sabarimala, the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) said that it has no evidence to prove the claim.
Reacting to reports that the state Government submitted before the Supreme Court that 51 women between 10-50 age group entered the temple after the September 28 SC verdict, TDB member KP Sankardas last evening said 'the Board has no evidence to prove the claim of the Government'.
"However, there is no need to disbelief the Government's claim as they might have evidence," he clarified.
It is pertinent to note that the State Government had already submitted a list of 51 women to the SC informing that these women of menstruating age entered the temple after its verdict allowing entry for women of all ages into the temple.
However, there were reports that the list is not proper due to mismatch in the claim of the ages of women and it also finds the names of male devotees.
Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala alleged that the Government produced 'fake' datas before the Top Court to prove that women mostly from outside Kerala entered the temple.
Meanwhile, Kerala Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran said out of 8.2 lakh people booked for Darshan through the 'Virtual Q' system, as many as 7,564 women used the facility to visit the temple.
Out of the 7,564 women, about 51 women between the ages of 10 and 50 booked their names for Darshan during the festival, he added.
