Talking to news persons here, Anbazhagan said Bedi and Narayanasamy were at loggerheads on the issue of financial management of the administration.

The Finance Secretary functioning under the chief minister is issuing circular against the orders of the chief minister and if this situation continues, the Provisional Civil Services (PCS) officers will say that the government have no right to prepare budget and the legislators have no power to speak in the assembly, he said.

Pointing out to the massive devastation in Karaikal in the aftermath of Gaja cyclone, Anbazhagan demanded that Karaikal region be declared as “cyclone hit” and adequate compensation be provided.

He said it is the duty of the government to console the affected and provide relief. While, Tamil Nadu government is doing this is a magnificent way, Puducherrry had failed on this front so far, he alleged. Minister from Karaikal Kamalakanannan is concentrating only in his constituency, he charged.

Even the Lt Governor failed to turn up to console the affected people, he said, adding that instead she is directing to provide relief only after documenting the damages.

Acts and rules are for people: CPI

Stating that acts and rules are for the people and not to torture them, the Puducherry unit of Communist Party of India on Monday wondered why Lt Governor Kiran Bedi, the administrator of this Union Territory and Finance Secretary Candavelou had failed to initiate any action to redress the grievance of 10,000 workers who were without salary for the past several months. In a statement here today, CPI State Secretary Saleem said that the duo should take immediate steps to disburse the pending salary to the workers to save their families failing which there will shortly be a communal rioting. The circular of Candavelou that the order of the Chief Minister could not be implemented is against the law and is against a government elected by the people of the UT, he said.
