539 women register online to visit Sabarimala: Kerala government intensifies security arrangements

Sabarimala Ayyappan temple is scheduled to open on 16th of this month for upcoming Madala pooja of Magaravillakku season. As many as 539 women have registered with Kerala government via online to have darsan in the hill shrine. Concerning the protest of devotees not allowing the entry of women, Kerala government has decided to intensify the security measures in the view of implementing the verdict of the Supreme Court 

Sabarimala hill shrine has been brought under heavy security. Commando force and 2300 police personals are deployed in the hill shrine, including 100 women police who are aged above 50 at sannidhanam area When Ayyappa temple opened on 5th November for the special one-day session amid tight security. There were violent protests by devotees late in the night and early on Tuesday as they found out women from the hitherto banned age group approaching the shrine. 

When the temple was opened for monthly Pooja last month, the hill shrine became a place for protest, and women devotees were not allowed to enter. In connection with violent protest and violation of the Supreme Court verdict, as many as 545 cases have been filed against the protesters and 3,731 of them were arrested.
