Talking to media persons, Anbazhagan said the move was being done to satisfy dissidents in the Congress in view of the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Stating that most of the corporations are on the verge of closure due to corruption, irregularities and back door appointments, he said the employees have not been getting salary for several months.

In this backdrop, chairpersons to 25 more boards and corporations should not be appointed, Anbazhagan said, adding that he had written a letter to Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi not to approve the file.

He also urged the territorial administration to drop the regional reservation sytem in recruitments. “Already, Puducherry students who secure high marks in Class 12 examination are not able to get admission for higher education due to the regional reservation system. This is against the constitution and is not practiced in any other state,” Anbazhagan said.

Now the government is in the process of appointing graduate teachers, computer teachers and Balasevikas for education department on regional reservation basis, he said.

“As many as 143 posts have been identified in Karaikal. They are going to be filled up only by those from the local region. This needs to be condemned,” the AIADMK leader said.

“In Puducherry, about 700 teacher posts are vacant of which only 90 are going to be filled up. This system of regional appointments be cancelled immediately,” he said.
