Finance firm staffer robbed in Pondy, 4 held

According to police, Balasubramanian, the employee of a financing company at Maduranthagam in Tamil Nadu came to Puducherry on Monday to collect the loan installments from traders and others who obtained loan from their company.

After collecting the dues, he was walking through Thanthai Periyar Nagar here with the bag containing Rs 5 lakh when the four-member gang attacked him with sickles and grabbed the bag.

Balasubramanian, who ran to save his life, lodged a complaint with the Reddiyarpalayam police. Police registered a case and started investigation during which the culprits were identified with the help of a CCTV footage nearby. They accused, residents from Shanmughapuram and Gandhithirunalloor here, were arrested. Police did not reveal their names.
