Man held under Pocso Act for abusing minors

According to police, Raj (37) of Kottuppalayam was running a hotel at Ellapillaichavady. 

He developed a relationship with Rani, who had deserted her husband, running a coffee bar in front of his shop. The woman had a 15-year-old daughter from her marriage, while  she adopted another 16-year-old girl.

Raj, who has three children from a previous marriage, married Rani hiding this fact.

Recently when Rani was away, he sexually assaulted both the girls. The girls informed their mother about the incident.

Rani inturn informed the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). The CWC officials conducted an inquiry and found the incident true, following which they approached Senior Superintendent of Police Apoorva Gupta to initiate action against Raj.

On direction from the SSP, Reddiyarpalayam police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) and  arrested Raj.
