According to a Raj Nivas release, Puducherry Collector Chaudhari Abhijit Vijay accompanied Bedi in her visit. They interacted with the managers and engineers of the two industries.
The officials were told that the two plants would come out with their own water and energy policy, aimed at reducing, reusing, recycling, regenerating and rejuvenating the resources available.
The management conveyed that they would extend their financial support for the desilting of water bodies in the vicinity of their plants. They also conveyed that the number of harvest pits to capture rainwater as well as runoff water from vacant spaces would be increased.
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will be requested to convene an all industries meet to bring them on a single platform to work towards water and energy conservation and share good practices.Â
The CII will also be requested to formulate a standard operating procedure in water and energy conservation in collaboration with the Ground Water Authority and Renewal Energy Agency of Puducherry (REAP).
The Industries will be requested to include in the CSR committee, representatives of District Administration/Local Administration to identify contribution that can be made to address imperative needs of the local community.
Third party audit is to be carried out through specialised agencies for measuring water table, which should be done before and after monsoon to establish the water regeneration that has taken place. A review meet will take place on September 8 to see the progress made on the ongoing efforts, the release said.
